Taxi Fabric Design with Special Friends

Taxi fabric, 2015

The taxi interiors was conceptualised & designed by me and coloured by the wonderful students of Mann, an institute for individuals with special needs. This cab was made in collaboration with TEDxGateway.

The primary message of this taxi was to help us in getting to know differently abled people better and be friends! Through this piece of mobile-art, we wanted to spread awareness that both, kids and other people, belong in the same society.

To include the children with special needs, the design was made interactive by leaving half of it devoid of colour, and enabling the students at Mann to color it in using special fabric colors.

This approach came from an insight from the teachers at Mann; where I was introduced to the real life issues that the differently abled people face everyday. And what I’ve tried to do, is to spread awareness about these issues by integrating them in my design.

It was launched on International Day of Persons with Disabilities - 3rd December, 2015.
